Speaker at New York Arbitration Week
19 November 2020
On 19 November 2020, Alexander Blumrosen took part in "Virtual Hot Tubbing - Panel-Appointed Experts: Arbitrators Debate, You Decide" hosted by Silicone Valley Arbitration and Mediation Center during New York Arbitration Week 2020, discussing the pros of tribunal appointed experts.
The presentation consisted of two lively debates in an Oxford type format, by world-class neutrals in the high technology area discussing two hot issues in the use of experts:
- “Resolved, Hot-Tubbing of Expert Witnesses Cannot be Effective in the Virtual Environment?”
- “Resolved, Experts Should be Impartial and the Tribunal Should Appoint Them?”
The panelists for the first debate were Merriann Panarella and Laura A. Kaster. The panelists for the second debate were Alexander Blumrosen and Thomas Creel.
The moderator was Thomas D. Halket.
Each debate was preceded by a vote from the audience, and was followed by a Q&A, as well as a secondary vote to determine if public opinion has changed.
